Last Wednesday, I posted about my deep love of Baby Fiona, the magical hippo from the Cincinnati Zoo.
The next morning, I received one of my favourite blog comments of all time, from a lady named Jennifer, who wrote the following:
Hello! I just discovered your blog and I had to comment on your Fiona blog and say how much I love her as well. I actually have a Fiona shrine in my office made out of Fiona postcards, and, of course, much Fiona-wear. Anyway, as someone who lives close to the Cincinnati Zoo and has seen Fiona in the flesh and watched her antics up close, I can totally assure you that your love of Fiona is appropriate and justified!
APPROPRIATE, you guys. And JUSTIFIED.
Obviously, Jennifer is a highly intelligent and discerning soul and naturally, I was DYING to see her Fiona shrine. And Jennifer...Fiona-loving angel that she is...sent me some photos.
Selection of postcards #1.
Adorable hand-made needle-felted hippo. I looked the artist up on Etsy, but sadly, she has no more Fiona at the moment.
Felted Baby Fiona in situ. Also, hilarious office sign for my nurse pals.
Selection of postcards #2.
As Jennifer mentioned in her comment, she has ACTUALLY SEEN Baby Fiona, IN PERSON and I could not be more jealous! She sent along a couple of pictures from her most recent visit. She says "Please forgive the quality as the glass is a real bitch to shoot through." I'm amazed she got any shots at ALL because if I was there, I'd be too busy simultaneously screaming with delight and weeping.
Anyway, here's a shot of Fiona's cute hippo butt and her mom, Bibi.
And this close-up is of Bibi's face. Which I love. Because this is probably what I look like when I sleep.
UPDATE! Jennifer sent me a couple more of her pictures of Fiona! I debated just keeping them to myself, but the world can always use a little more Fiona, n'est-ce pas? Oui.
Jennifer - you and your Fiona shrine have made my entire week!! I seriously can't get enough of this little hippo. FIONA RULEZ!!
Fiona can make any Monday better! If you have any great Fiona photos or videos please share them us for a possible future Fiona post. Keep in mind Fiona can only be outside if it's 50 degrees or warmer. pic.twitter.com/V12u5CYHbO
