If you've ever read my blog, you'll know that we have a very well-photographed dog named Emmy Lou. Why, here she is now.
Emmy Lou, fuzzy and cantankerous, has been inspiring artistic efforts since we adopted her in 2007. Naturally, we record her every move.
Katr took it to the next level for our third anniversary, when she commissioned a portrait of Emmy Lou. And we became the lesbians who have a huge painting of their dog in the living room.
A couple of years ago, our friend Boka (Princess Emmeline Louise's erstwhile dogsitter) made us an hilarious throw pillow starring Emmy Lou. See if you can spot it below.
This year, Boka promised us a truly ridiculous Christmas gift but as she is a very creative person with all kinds of outlandish ideas, we didn't have a clue what to expect. And then we didn't see her and her beaverancée Cawi for nearly a month after Christmas, because one of us was always sick.
So the anticipation of a fun Christmas gift grew over several weeks but I was still in no way prepared for what Boka had made us this year.
It's a painting. Of Emmy Lou. DRESSED AS MISS ELIZABETH BENNET FROM PRIDE & PREJUDICE.
First of all, I did cry a little.
Secondly, WHO THINKS OF THAT???
Thirdly, this painting is brilliant because it is that magical combination of an hilarious idea executed well. I love the composition. I love the colours. And I especially love the resigned expression on Emmy Lou's face. Because you know that if we put a bonnet and Regency style dress on our dog, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT SHE WOULD LOOK LIKE.
It is GENIUS.
Okay, that's all, I'm just bragging about this awesome gift we got. HA ha!
